I'll overwhelm 'legitimate combatant' Jake Paul - Anthony Joshua

Anthony Joshua and Jake Paul face-off

Anthony Joshua is set to fight the American YouTuber in an eight-round contest which will be broadcast in real-time on Netflix.

Briton Joshua said he will "dominate completely" the American and "defeat" the American as the pair confronted each other to build hype for the upcoming heavyweight fight.

Former two time world title holder Anthony Joshua faces YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul - in what is, theoretically, a massive mismatch - at Miami's venue on December 19th.

Boxer's Attitude

"I will injure his face and damage his physique. I aim to demonstrate my superiority," Joshua, 35, said.

"I plan to overwhelm him. That's a fighter's mentality.

"I will genuinely try to injure him. That's my intention."

Civil Interaction

Despite these statements, a calm Anthony Joshua and social media star Jake Paul - normally known for his dramatics - were respectful and remained civil with each other.

Jake Paul instead criticized former Joshua opponent Francis Ngannou and described him as "a joke" after the Cameroonian declined a bout proposal.

Targeting Fury

Anthony Joshua, meanwhile, criticized British opponent Fury - and rejected a £1m bet 'Tyson Fury' says he will place on a Paul win.

"[Paul] outshines Fury - he showed up," Joshua commented.

"I respect him for that."

Legitimate Opponent

In spite of saying he intends to hurt Jake Paul, Joshua declined to talk badly about his rival's boxing ability.

"Jake Paul is a credible opponent," he remarked.

Paul's History

Jake Paul - who first rose to fame on the Disney Channel - has primarily fought MMA fighters or declining opponents since entering professional boxing.

He lost to Briton Tommy Fury in last year.

Commercial Attraction

Still, the inexperienced fighter continues to be one of the sport's biggest commercial attractions, regularly earning massive financial rewards.

Forecast and Belief

The 28 year old forecast a KO victory in the fourth or fifth round and stated he would stop the long-awaited match between Joshua and Fury, which is apparently being planned for 2026.

"The next fight will be myself against Tyson Fury next year," Jake Paul stated.

Physical Difference

As the two fighters participated in the usual confrontation, with their height and weight contrast on show, it emphasized just how surprising this entire matchup is - and how remarkable it is that the match is really going ahead.
